From providing quality care to patients to increasing prescription sign-ups, our prescription collection machines have been helping pharmacies all over the UK.
What is a pharmacy vending machine?
Our pharmacy vending machines allow patients to collect prescriptions at any time.
How do prescription vending machines work?
We use MedPoint machines, which use an auto scan system.
- The pharmacy places prescription bags with QR codes on the shelves, and the bags are auto-scanned and link the prescription with a shelf number.
- The patient gets an automated text with a unique collection PIN.
- The patient visits the prescription collection machine anytime and enters the PIN or scans the QR code.
What are the benefits of MedPoint’s drug vending machines?
There are many benefits of prescription collection machines for pharmacists, including reducing prescription filling time by 40 seconds per prescription, saving time on inventory management, and giving staff more flexibility.
24-hour pharmacy vending machine
Here are just some of the prescription collection machines we’ve installed around the UK this year.
Alvaston Medical Centre
We installed our SOLO 2 machine, which is our standalone version, this year at Alvaston Medical Centre in Derby.
The pharmacy wanted to increase its collections and offer convenience to patients with a 24/7 prescription collection service.
Our standalone prescription collection machine takes up less room than a parking space. It’s also temperature-controlled and has backup battery power in case of an outage.
The staff were extremely engaged, and with full training provided, they were eager to start using the prescription collection machine.

FirstPoint Pharmacy
In February, we installed one of our pharmacy automation machines for Pharmastop Healthcare Limited at their First Point Pharmacy in Bellshill, Glasgow.
As you can see, the staff were excited.
Altnagelvin Hospital
This one was a big one for us. It was our first SOLO machine in Northern Ireland. Installed in January at the North West Cancer Centre at Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry.
We were even featured in local papers because of the impact it’s making on patients. One patient is Bronagh, who thanked MedPoint as it has changed the way she lives her life.
But this is why we provide these machines to empower patients, provide better care, and support pharmacists.
Willow pharmacy
In March, we installed a machine at Willow Pharmacy.
Truhealth Pharmacy & Health Clinic
We installed the MedPoint i1200 at Argyll Pharmacy in Lockgilphead, in the stunning West Coast of Scotland.
The street was undergoing a regeneration process, driven by Lochgilphead Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) to restore historic buildings and enhance the town’s visual appeal. And our prescription collection machine was installed and looks fantastic as part of the building frontage.
There’s been a positive response with nearly 200 signups (even without advertising).
